Morgantown High School girls’ basketball coach Allan Collins got a glimpse of his future team on Saturday.
The only problem was that he would like to see it under different circumstances.
MHS (4-1) battled foul trouble and injuries all game long before finally beating Woodrow Wilson, 61-53, in the consolation game of the Parkersburg South Tournament.
“We hung on and survived,” Collins said. “At one point, we had a freshman, three sophomores and a junior on the floor. It was really just survival. We hung in there and did what we needed to do to win.”
Cynthia Fullard led the Mohigans with 15 points while Lauren Shoemaker scored 13. Both girls made the all tournament team.
The Mohigans return to action on Thursday when they host Elkins at 7:30 p.m.
