Asia Greenleaf scored 16 points and Jessica Moore had a double-double as top-ranked Parkersburg South rolled to an 80-36 road victory over outmanned Wheeling Park. Moore scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Mary Seagraves added 10 points and Kelsi Halbert 9 for the 13-1 Patriots.

Parkersburg South Wins Impressively

Already facing a monumental task with West Virginia Class AAA No. 2-ranked Parkersburg South paying a visit Saturday, Wheeling Park was forced to go into battle without banged up senior standout Erika Martin.

It turned into an afternoon that Coach Meredith Anderson and her Patriots will want to put behind them very quickly.

Danielle Floyd led four-double figure scorers with 17 points and South raced to a 20-point, first-quarter lead and substituted freely in rolling to an 80-36 victory against the homestanding Patriots.

In all, 10 players dented the scoring column for Coach Scott Stephens' club, which improved to 13-1. Meanwhile, Park dropped to 5-12 and will travel to Barnesville on Monday night.

''You really aren't trying to blow anyone out, but when you get into a situation like this it is nice to get your bench some playing time,'' Stephens said. ''Those kids work hard in practice all year long and it is good for their enthusiasm and game experience to get some playing time.

''We are getting down to the end of the season now and it is nice to see the starters on the bench cheering for their teammates once in a while. It is just good for team chemistry.''

The Wood County Patriots took care of business early, racing to a 10-3 lead before a 15-0 run paved the way for a 25-5 count after the first 8 minutes. That margin ballooned to 46-19 at the break and 62-24 after three quarters.

Wheeling Park's 39 total shots was four more than Parkersburg South's total field goals. With that in mind, the host Patriots managed to score five points in both the first and third quarters.

To add to Park's misery was the fact that its visitors shot nearly 50 percent from the floor.

''They are a totally different team without Erika Martin in there,'' Stephens said. ''I am very sorry that she could not go and I hope that she is back in action very soon. We had a goal coming into the game to hold Erika to 15 points, and we were very anxious to see if we could accomplish that.

''We are playing very well right now, making shots, playing great defense and hitting the boards real hard. It is just a very sound basketball team.''

Backing Floyd's 17 was Asia Greenleaf with 16 and Mary Seagraves with 10. Jesse Moore also had a double-double for the winners with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Carly Slater paced Wheeling Park with 11 with Austyn Creighton chipping in with nine and Mallory Morris eight.

South grabbed a commanding 46-26 advantage off the glass and turned the ball over 15 times, nine less than its hosts.
