WHEELING -Wheeling Park made eight of its 12 free throws in overtime here Saturday night to down visiting Parkersburg South, 78-75.

The Patriots, who trailed 35-29 at halftime, rallied to tie the game at 65-all and actually had a chance to win it in regulation, but its shot with three seconds to play missed its mark.

South (9-8) was led by Jill Stephens with 27 points while Bethany Harbour added 20 and Rachel Wolfe had 16.

Wheeling Park (11-6) got 21 points from Shantel Nevils, 20 from Maggie Gompers and 13 from Rose Tsarcios.

South visits Memorial Fieldhouse on Tuesday night when the Patriots meet arch-rival PHS.
